The oldest prayer in the bible, in which God wrote Himself, Numbers 6:24-26, is well known to both the Jewish and Christian people of faith. God told Moses to pray this pray over the Israelites every day. And God says in verse 27 that He will put His name upon them, which is His holy character, power and authority. Thus, for 40 years the Israelites had an impartation of God’s shekinah glory. There was divine provision, divine health, angelic protection, abundant supply of water and their shoes and clothing never wore out.
This prayer, though in the English translation seems very short, it is deeply meaningful when translated from Hebrew to English in the amplified. Here is what the prayer means:
– The LORD Bless You
May YehoVaH or YaHWeH, your Heavenly Father (He who Exists) kneel before you, Himself available to you (like a good Father kneeling before His child) in order to minister and bestow His gifts and promises. Like a good Father extending His arms out to His child. In Hebrew, the word kneel is barakh, which means to bless. Like a camel who kneels down to bestow gifts it is bearing. God kneels down to minister and bestow to us comfort.
– And Keep You
May May YehoVaH or YaHWeH, your Heavenly Father (He who Exists) guard you with a hedge of thorny protection that will prevent Satan and all your enemies from harming you body, soul and spirit, your loved-ones and all your possessions. Now both Father and child are kneeling and the Father puts His arms around us in a divine embrace. You are with Him in the safety of His care.
– His Face Shine Upon You
May YehoVaH or YaHWeH, your Heavenly Father (He who Exists) illuminate the wholeness of His being toward you – continually – bringing you to order so that you will fulfill your God – given destiny and purpose. This is the panim or face of God that shines upon us as a door. It is a portal opened to revelation and order. When you gaze into the face of the Father He is shining an impartation of His image and singleness of mind.
– And Be Gracious to You
May YehoVaH or YaHWeH, your Heavenly Father (He who Exists) provide with perfect love and fellowship – never leaving you – and give you sustenance, provision and friendship. The Father is looking at you with His eyes of love and smiling at you. He says to you that He loves you, is pleased with you because you are His child. Do not be afraid, He is not your enemy, but He is your friend and will never hurt you.
– The LORD Lift up His Countenance Upon You
May YehoVaH or YaHWeH, your Heavenly Father (He who Exists) lift up and carry His FULLNESS of being toward you (bringing EVERYTHING that He is to your aid) supporting you with His DIVINE EMBRACE and His ENTIRE BEING. To lift up, in the Hebrew language is nasah. The Lord lifts us up in His arms and carries us like a child. He rejoices over us with songs of love, walks with us, encourages us and calms us, just us as a good parent does for a baby.
– And Give You Peace
May YehoVaH or YaHWeH, your Heavenly Father (He who Exists) set in place all you need to be whole and complete so you can walk in victory, moment by moment, by the power of the Holy Spirit. May HE give you supernatural health, supernatural peace, welfare, safety, soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfection, fullness, rest, harmony, as well as, the absence of agitation and discord. Shalom is the word for peace in Hebrew, which means nothing missing, nothing broken and wholeness in all areas of our lives.
